I find comfort being near water.  In my paintings I try to capture the “warm loneliness” created by the light at dusk or dawn playing off the glacier carved shoreline of Georgian Bay, the stillness of a Muskoka beaver pond, or the nestled boats of a Lake Ontario harbour.  The variety of shadows and light in these scenes creates endless opportunities to experiment with colour and form.

Like a good book, a good painting should capture the viewers’ imagination yet leave enough unsaid to allow them to infuse the image with their own experiences and memories.
